We’ll see the Old Town and the most important monuments of the city: Narikala fortress, to which we will get to by funicular, allowing us to admire a beautiful panorama of the whole capital; Abanotubani (sulfur bath district); the winding streets of Old Tbilisi; and its most important temples, Sioni cathedral (XVII c.) and the oldest Tbilisi church Anchiskhati (VII c.). Then dinner accompanied by a folklore show, overnight stay in Tbilisi. DAY 3 - TBILISI - STEPANTSMINDA - TBILISI Breakfast, departure from Tbilisi towards the mountains of the Greater Caucasus along the famous Georgian Military Highway, up to the town of Stepantsminda. This journey will delight with wonderful views of the highest peaks of the Caucasus. Along the way, we’ll visit the picturesque Ananuri fortress located on Lake Jinvali, and take a photo break at a historic lookout point near the ski resort of Gudauri. We’ll then drive to Stepantsminda and ascend by off-road vehicles to the Holy Trinity Church of Gergeti, which is a landmark of the region and entire country. From Gergeti, in good conditions of visibility, we’ll be able to see the peak of Mount Kazbek (5054 m), the second highest in the country. Dinner and overnight stay in Tbilisi. DAY 4 - TBILISI - BODBE MONASTERY - SIGNAGI - PHEASANT’S TEARS WINERY - TELAVI Breakfast, then departure to the Kakheti region, known as the “land of wine”. We’ll visit the beautiful Bodbe monastery, where St. Nino - apostle of the Georgian Orthodox Church who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century - is buried. From the monastery there is a stunning view of the Alazani valley, where the best grape varieties are grown. We’ll then drive to city-of-love Signagi, which has been perfectly preserved in its 17th-18th century form. In the town of Signagi, we’ll have a tasting at one of the most atmospheric wineries, where we will learn the secrets of the 8000-year history of wine production in Georgia. We will learn how wine is made in clay qvevri amphoras and how such wine differs from all other wines in the world. Then we’ll visit a family-run vineyard, where you can see how Georgian homemade wine is made, and where we’ll enjoy a wine and chacha (Georgian grappa) tasting combined with dinner with local music and traditional Georgian toasts. Drive to the town of Telavi, overnight stay there. DAY 5 - TELAVI - ALAVERDI CATHEDRAL - KHAREBA WINERY - GIUAANI WINERY - TBILISI Breakfast, departure to explore the Telavi area. Kakheti region is famous for wine production, so it’s no wonder that we’ll be accompanied by views of endless vineyards and, of course, the Caucasus Mountains in the background along the way. We start by visiting the most important monument of the region - Alaverdi Cathedral. Alaverdi was founded in the 11th century and has always been the center of the region’s religion and culture, but not only - the monks of this monastery have been producing wine since ancient times, and they continue to do so to this day. In the monastery shop you can buy limited-offer bottles of wine, produced by local religious fathers. The next stop to visit is a wonderful winery called Khareba. Khareba is a truly unique place—to get to the wine tasting point, we have to go through a long, rock-carved tunnel carved. Wine is stored in such tunnels. We’ll then leave for Tbilisi and our last stop will be a charming home winery in the town of Sagarejo. Wine and chacha moonshine is produced on site. After the tasting, return to Tbilisi, dinner, overnight stay. DAY 5 - TBILISI - OLD CAPITAL MTSKHETA - IAGO'S WINERY - UPLISTSIKHE CAVE TOWN - BORJOMI Breakfast, then departure to south of Georgia. Along the way we’ll visit the most important monuments of Georgia, places that recall the beginnings of Christianity, including the old capital Mtskheta. Mtskheta is the cradle of Christianity in Georgia-it was here that Christianity was adopted as the state religion in the 4th century. We will visit the most important religious buildings from the UNESCO list: Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th century) and Jvari monastery (6th century). Near the town of Mtskheta, we’ll visit a unique place, another point along the Georgian wine trail. This is the Iago Winery, where several types of wine are produced using the traditional method of fermenting wine in qvevri amphoras, though European-style wines are also found here. The hosts will tell you about their vineyard and wine on site, and will treat us to their best liquors. In the town of Gori we’ll visit Uplistsikhe - a cave city near the town of Gori and oldest monument and cave dwelling on the territory of Georgia. According to historical sources, the first settlements here are dated to the 2nd millennium BC! After visiting Gori, we’ll continue on to the town of Borjomi. Dinner and overnight stay in Borjomi or nearby. DAY 7 - AKHALTSIKHE - VARDZIA - RABATI FORTRESS - TBILISI Breakfast. After breakfast we will visit the cave city of Vardzia, carved into a rock wall in the 12th century AD. The complex consists of about 3,000 chambers, which could accommodate about 60,000 people during the Mongol invasions. We’ll enter small, narrow chambers and move through tiny tunnels, allowing us to fully enjoy the atmosphere of this magical place. Our next stop will be the mighty Rabati fortress, located in the center of the historic city of Akhaltsikhe. The fortress consists of churches, mosques, palaces, and other building complexes, demonstrating the multi-cultural and multi-religious history of the region. After sightseeing, free time. Dinner and overnight in Akhaltsikhe. DAY 8 - TBILISI Free day in Tbilisi for shopping or sightseeing. Dinner and overnight stay in Tbilisi. We will visit the most important religious buildings from the UNESCO list: Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th century) and Jvari monastery (6th century). The city impresses with an advanced (for those times) infrastructure and a variety of caverns and living quarters. On the way back to Tbilisi, we will visit Chateau Mukhrani, the first chateau in Georgia. Wine tasting, combined with dinner. Overnight stay in Tbilisi. DAY 6 - TBILISI - HAGHPAT - SEVAN -YEREVAN After breakfast we drive to the Armenian border, and proceed through the checkpoint. Along the drive we will visit the Haghpat Monastery (10th century), which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and combines several buildings, including churches, music halls, a library, etc. On the way to Yerevan, we will visit, the lake Sevan. Lake Sevan is the largest and deepest lake in Armenia, and it is located at 1900 m. above sea level. Here we will visit the Sevanavank Monastery (9 century), which was once located on an island and therefore cut off from the rest of the region. Today, the island has turned into a peninsula and visiting the monastery is possible for everyone. Arrival in Yerevan. Dinner and overnight stay in Yerevan. DAY 7 - YEREVAN CITY TOUR Breakfast, Sightseeing of the capital of Armenia. Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the Caucasus and the whole world, founded in 782 BC, still serves as the capital and largest city of Armenia. Noteworthy is the city's central square, Republic Square, where ministries and other government buildings are located. Walking further, you will see the beautiful Opera House and the Cascades. The Yerevan Cascades have 572 stairs, with which you can climb to the top and enjoy the beauty of the city. After a tour of the city centre we will head to the Genocide Museum, a memorial to the victims of the Armenian massacre in the early 20th century. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan. DAY 8 - YEREVAN - GARNI - GEGHARD - YEREVAN Breakfast, departure towards the capital. In the vicinity of Yerevan we visit two unique monuments: the Geghard Monastery, part of which is carved in the rock and the church itself is astonishing with its reliefs and stone ornaments, and the pagan temple of Garni. It is a very interesting monument of Armenian architecture - the only pagan temple, built in classical style in the 1st century A.D., still completely preserved today. The temple named Garni was dedicated to the sun deity Mitra. Next drive to the monastery of Khor Virap, where the Armenian enlightener Saint Gregory was imprisoned for 13 years. The monastery overlooks the peak of Ararat, the holy Armenian mountain. According to legends, Noah's ark found its haven right here. Drive back to Yerevan, dinner and overnight in Yerevan. DAY 9 - TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT Departure from Yerevan International Airport.

The valley stretches all the way to the North Ossetian border and can be traversed to its very end on foot as well as by vehicle. Within the valley you can come across the remains of once-inhabited villages, which are now only used by local shepherds seeking shelter during bad weather. At the very end of the trail two monasteries are visible: one all-male and one all-female a little further on-both practically cut off from civilization, especially in winter when the road here becomes impassable. At this beautiful spot we;ll begin our light trek. Dinner and overnight stay in Tbilisi. DAY 6 - TBILISI - GORI - BORJOMI - AKHALTSIKHE Breakfast, then departure to southern Georgia. On the way we'll visit Uplistsikhe - a cave city near the town of Gori and oldest monument and cave dwelling on the territory of Georgia. According to historical sources, the first settlements here are dated to the 2nd millennium BC! The city impresses with an advanced (for those times) infrastructure and a variety of caverns and living quarters. Drive to the resort town of Borjomi. The famous mineral water of the same name originates here, which we will be able to try straight from the spring. After visiting Borjomi, we'll continue on to the town of Akhaltsikhe, dinner and overnight there. DAY 7 - AKHALTSIKHE - VARDZIA - RABATI FORTRESS - TBILISI Breakfast. After breakfast we will visit the cave city of Vardzia, carved into a rock wall in the 12th century AD. We will visit the most important religious buildings from the UNESCO list - Svetikhoveli Cathedral (XI century) and Dzhwari Monastery (VI century). Departure to Gori, we’ll visit Uplistsikhe - cave town in Gori, it is the oldest monument and the oldest cave town on the territory of Georgia, according to historical sources, the first settlements appeared here in the II millennium BC! DAY 8 - TBILISI - HAGHPAT - SEVAN -YEREVAN After breakfast we drive to the Armenian border, and proceed through the checkpoint. Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the Caucasus and the whole world, founded in 782 BC, still serves as the capital and largest city of Armenia. Noteworthy is the city's central square, Republic Square, where ministries and other government buildings are located. Walking further, you will see the beautiful Opera House and the Cascades. The Yerevan Cascades have 572 stairs, with which you can climb to the top and enjoy the beauty of the city. You can also use an escalator inside the building to get to the top. The interior of the Cascades is used to exhibit contemporary art, and the Cafesjian Art Museum is located here. After a tour of the city centre we will head to the Genocide Museum, a memorial to the victims of the Armenian massacre in the early 20th century. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan. DAY 10 - YEREVAN - ECHMIADZIN - ZVARTNOTS - YEREVAN Breakfast, drive to the city of Vagharshapat (Echmiadzin). Echmiadzin is known as the religious center of Armenia, it was here that the first Christian cathedral in the the world was built - the church of the same name. According to historical sources, the construction of the church was completed in 303, and despite numerous destructions, the cathedral remained preserved in almost its original state, and is listed as a UNESCO site. In the town of Vagharshapat, we will also visit the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral (7th century), also a UNESCO site. Return to Yerevan, we will end the day with a tasting of real Armenian cognac and dinner. Overnight stay in Yerevan. DAY 11 - YEREVAN - GARNI - GEGHARD - KHOR VIRAP - YEREVAN Breakfast, departure towards the capital. In the vicinity of Yerevan we visit two unique monuments: the Geghard Monastery, part of which is carved in the rock and the church itself is astonishing with its reliefs and stone ornaments, and the pagan temple of Garni. It is a very interesting monument of Armenian architecture - the only pagan temple, built in classical style in the 1st century A.D., still completely preserved today. The temple named Garni was dedicated to the sun deity Mitra. Next drive to the monastery of Khor Virap, where the Armenian enlightener Saint Gregory was imprisoned for 13 years.
